Where in the world can WILDCATS read?
At Hope Elementary School, that's where!
For several years, a local non-profit organization, Village Green, has raised funds through private donations and grants to support Book Trust in all of our LPOSD elementary schools for grades K-3. Specifically, this means that all our K-3 students get to “purchase” $7.00 worth of books each month during the school year at no cost to families. The students pick, read and keep these new books. Research tells us that when kids get to select their own books they are more likely to read them (over and over again). Village Green is currently writing grants to continue to support our students.
Annually this amount ranges between $85,000 to $90,000.
Parents look for a form coming your way this Friday for an opportunity to share your thoughts about Book Trust and our local non-profit, Village Green, for supporting this incredible program. Parent statements are important to the grant writing process, so we would love to hear from you.
Thank you very much.
See below for some great pictures showing your kids reading their new books with their K-3 grade schoolmates.
